The impact of lead poisoning?

Does anyone know anyone out there living with lead poisoning? And if they did have lead poisoning, did they have brain damage from it? Please, only serious replies, as this is a very serious question. Thanks!

I don't know anyone who has had it but I can ive you info on it.
LEAD POISIONING:Damage to the nervous system, red blood cells & digestive system caused by the accumulation of lead in the body. The lead may come from lead fumes(inhailed from leaded petrol, smoke from burning painted wood or battery cases, or lead contaminated dust), swallowing lead salts(in leaded paint chips or food stored in improperly glazed pottery), or lead objects retained in the body(shot pellets, or weights for fishing or curtains).
SYMPTOMS:Lead poisoning is a chronic disorder that may be punctuated by recurring acute bouts of symptoms. In adults, symtoms characteristically develope over several weeks, starting with personality change & progressing to headache, a metallic taste in mouth, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation & colicky abdominal pain. A bluish grey line may be seen along the gum margins. In young children the onset of symptoms is usually sudden, with the development over 1 to 5 days of persistent & forceful vomiting, staggering, convulsions, drowsiness & confusion, & eventually coma.
DIAGNOSIS:If lead poisoning is suspected, the diagnosis can be cofirmed by blood & urine tests to detect high lead levels.
TREATMENT:Excess lead can be removed from the body by giving chelating agents, drugs that bind with heavy metals such as lead to enable them to be excreted in the urine.
PREVENTION:Lead poisoning has become realatively rare since the introduction of lead-free paint & petrol, & industrial hygiene measures to reduce the contamination of soil & water with excessive lead.
Hope this helps you out.
Regards Starlet.

I don't know anyone that is living, but I do know that it can affect your inner ear among other things. Please simply type the word lead poisoning in your web search to get the right answers.

Another question that begs the question 'WHY THE HIPPOS AREN'T YOU CONSULTING A PHYSICIAN????"

Don't ever use this kind of forum for critical medical health issues. (sorry to sound harsh - but this is a biggie.....)
