LEAD POISONING!!! : How long after a child is exposed to high levels of lead can they still be tested for it?

My child mouthed a toy since Christmas until they decide to recall it THIS WEEK (over 6 months later) because of high levels of lead in its paint. So if I get her tested next week or the week after, will it still be high in her blood (if it was high in the first place)?
I read that if a child, say, eats paint chips as a baby, and the parents discover a learning disability a few years later, the lead levels won't be high in their blood anymore. How long DOES it stay in their blood?

Take your child to a doctor and they will run a simple blood test. A child can be tested for several months to years later for high blood levels. You need not worry to much unless your child has actually take the paint off the toy. However, for piece of mind I would take my child to the doctor to have a blood test. My understanding is, lead attaches to blood vessels, arteries. There are vitamins and minerals that can "grab" that lead and help it out of your body. Get "The Vitamin Book" it looks much like "The Pill Book". (Found at walmart, pharmacies, barnes & noble)

High lead levels stay high until there is treatment.

Take your child to the doctor or health clinic -- it's a simple blood test.

If lead levels are normal, then there's no danger of lead poisoning. If they're high, there is treatment.
