I was stabbed with a mechanical pencil. Is there a risk of lead poisoning? |
At about 11:30AM I was stabbed with a mechanical pencil. Then, at about 6:30PM I found out that there was part of the lead in my side that I pulled out. How can I tell if I have lead poisoning or not? It is difficult to say...but is a #2 lead pencil? Pencils dont use lead anymore......they are graphite!!! they dont put lead in them anymore. they use graphite i think Its unlikely... Pencils don't contain anything that can harm you anymore. I think you are pretty safe, my daughter was stabbed with one last year I took her to the doctor and they said she would be fine. You could eat it for all i care, you can't get lead poisoning from graphite. No, there is no lead in a lead pencil: the black comes from graphite. Nope...there's no "lead" in pencil leads anymore. It's all graphite.. Pencils are made from graphite, not lead, ding dong. Pencil "lead" is not lead at all. It is graphite, which is a form of carbon. You can get lead poisoning by eating the paint off a pencil, but you would have to eat a lot of it. No risk of poisoning, but you will have a tiny blue green scar. I still have a piece in my hand from 24 years ago. Not dead yet. Can still see it. Pencils have not been lead for over 30 years. Probably a lot longer. No they don't use lead any more, I think it's called graphite. Just clean it out well. no Today's pencils do not use lead so there is no such thing as lead posioning in pencils. |
