Lead poisoning - are we at risk and what can we do?

my mom and i recently moved into an apartment building. it definetely isnt one of the ones recently built and we've been having a lot of problems with it. the latest is that the radiator in my room is so hot that it melts the wall it stands next to. the paint on the wall has melted along with the layers of paint underneathe it (which could possibly contain lead since it was previously used in paint, years ago).
my question is - what do we do about it? our super is this idiot guy who doesnt do anything. who do we call and what should we do?

Lead in paint is only dangerous if you eat it. Don't eat any chips. And your radiator is not likely to actually vaporize much lead.

If you are curious about whether it really contains lead there are inexpensive "lead check" pens you can find in stores (swipe some fluid on it and watch the color change).

#1 thing u do is not eat the paint
#2 do not feed the paint to any kids
other then that good luck...ull be fine

Lead paint is supposed to only be harmful if you ingest it. Younger children who gnaw on things are at risk of developing lead paint poison and this is why they are tested. It may not be illegal for your landlord to do anything about the paint if it is lead based unless their are young children living with you. It's an expensive procedure to have it removed. Take to the landlord about it.
