Latex allergy and four year old!!!!!!!?

Two days ago, after removing two latex/plastic bandaids from my Grandson's back, the areas where they touched the skin was red and swollen. That night he was vomitting all night and last night he had a red rash all over his body and a very high temp. Both were gone by this morning, but his eyes were red and swollen for a couple of hours. He's back to his old energetic self now, but I was wondering if this could be an allergic reaction to latex. He has never been allergic to it before, and I've never heard of a fever with a latex reaction. Is this possible?

it could be a latex allergy. it could also be an allergy to the adhesive on the bandaids. as for the fever, that's not entirely uncommon. it's just hisbody's way of fighting something off that's not supposed to be there. you still might want to make him an appointment with either a pediatrician or family doc. just make sure they have some benadryl and at least some sort of anti-emetic after they do the test. don't want him getting sick like he did before.

sounds like one. use latex-free bandages. if this is not the case, he may have a reaction to the adhesive which is in bandages. not uncommon for kids and adults.

Yes, I'd say your grandson is allergic to latex. I have met a person allergic to latex and whenever they touched a balloon they'd get the same symptoms. Lay off the latex!
