Allergy from aluminium?

does anyone suffer with aluminium allergy? I get swoolen feet and itchy hands, feel unwell and tired after touching aluminium, have had to get rid of green house, and have now had a reaction from an aluminium ladder. does this seem possible or is the aluminium bit a coincidence. I was sure it was latex that was causing ulticara rashes and itching, but now think it is the metal any ideas?
thanks, alf.

There have been cases reported, mostly in children from inoculations containing aluminium, and such things as antiperspirants containing aluminium certainly can cause dermatitis, so it's looking possible. No doubt your GP can arrange sensitivity tests for you.

As aluminium is not a protein, it is not an allergy, but a 'sensitivity'.

well im allergic to stainless steale so if i can be allergic to that u can be allergic to aluminium

Thats interesting because dental fillings can contain aluminium-there may be a reaction from them if you think about it.The hospital below may do a test for you.

i get a rash on my rist if i were a crome watch
and a woman in our village was afected by money and had to sell her post office so diffrent people difrent things
all the best dai

I had pupils who, on touching and in some cases being near BRAND NEW aluminium rulers very quickly developed a dermatitis type rash on hands and arms. Once the rulers had been washed in soapy water and then used for a while by others, no reaction whatsoever. So yes, it would unfortunately appear that you are allergic to aluminium in some forms. Advice...avoid it.
