Ladies, personal health question for you . . .?

My nipples have been really itchy for several months. I've been using a body repair creme, and it seems to be working. But what caused this to begin with? Could it just be dry skin? Is it hot water from the shower? Is it my bra (I do have a latex allergy, but I've never reacted intensely to latex)?

Ideas? Thank you.

lol, um blubyum13, i'm in my late 20s, and i already have an ample bosom, so i'm hoping you are wrong . . . in the nicest way. :)

There are a few things that my cause this.....It may just be very dry skin. The way lotion works is that it keeps water in the skin, if the skin doesn't have any water in the first place just applying lotion won't help. You should always make sure the skin is wet before you put lotion on so the moisture is sealed in. 2) You could also have to much moisture on your skin, if you are repeatedly putting lotion on and wearing very warm clothing which makes you sweat moisture could be sitting on your skin. To solve this, let those babies breath! Try wearing a cotton shirt and maybe no bra while at home. 3)The next idea has been mentioned before, it could be an allergy. To check this make sure you are not allergic to the bra by wearing another bra and also using a different detergent for a while. Try using a different lotion maybe? 4) Is it something you are eating? When I eat chocolate I get a rash but only on my legs because I am allergic. 5) If it is an allergy you may want to take benadryl for a few days and see if that helps, if you put cortizone cream on your nipples that will help with the itching. 6) Have you just had a baby who you are nursing, if so GO TO THE DOCTOR right away, it could be bad for you and the baby. Also if it doesn't stop soon it is always better to go to the doctor just to be safe. Sorry for your suffering and I hope some of this help!!! Good Luck!

yeah I had itchy nipples once...i scratched them and then it kind of went away after that. I think it was because I was laying on the carpet without a shirt on for 3 hours

it is just like me it is what they call the winter itch

it could be the hot showers, but my doctor said hormones.

MIne used to do that. They would itch so bad I would claw at them. I can't say for certain what caused it but I think it was just dry skin. I kept lotion on them and it helped. It could also be your laundry detergent irritating them. Keep lotion on them and try using a detergent that is allergen free. If it doesn't help I would go see a doctor.

It could mean your boobs are growing as well!

it could possibly be something in the water. mayb theres a mineral or something in there that ur body doesnt like, and because when u have a shower, the water is on ur chest the most, then thats where the most of the reaction is.

i dunno...

Weeeeell, when I was a little kid I was severely allergic to red dye (suckers, kool-aid, food coloring) and then I suddenly lost all of my allergies when I turned 10. Then about 4 years ago I started dying my hair scarlett and I noticed the same problem, I had itching and redness on my nipples, areola, and even the insides of my thighs. So i went to the doctor and realized that i was still mildly allergic to red dye but only when it came into contact with thin sensitive skin, so every time I washed my hair a little of the dye would wash out, but then I resorted to dying my hair a different color and viola! no more itching, this could or could not be useful, but i hope it helps!

It could be dry skin, but also I've noticed that my skin reacts when I change laundry detergent.

do you wear the same bra for a few days, or change it everyday, because it could just be irretated from a dirty bra.( i know it sounds stupid, but really....)
