Allergic reaction at work? |
I work in a Sobey's bakery and we're required to wear gloves all the time. The gloves I use are "latex and powder" free, but they're always near the latex and powered gloves. My lips keep turning deep ready and getting chapped and cracking with white in the cracks. Just like.. dead skin. And my hands have red blotches like.. they've been sand blasted or something. And where my pores are is a deeper red, and the skin is getting very flaky and cracking. I don't know if it's because I might have a latex allergy or am allergic to the powder and am near it or what. Work is the only new thing. you are allergic to the latex and possibly the powder. I would try glove liners if possible. They make a cotton glove that goes under the disposable gloves. Also, for your hands, I recommend the "bee bar" from Honeyhouse.com. This is unbelievably great for your skin and lasts a long time. Is the best lotionlike thing in the world. My skin cracks are all healed and my hands are in much better shape because I use this "bee bar" all the time. Good luck. It doesn't sound like a typical allergic reaction, though it could be. I wouldn't think that, just because they are near the latex gloves that this would be enough for them to be contaminated. It might be worth investing in a box of your own gloves that you could keep away from the other gloves just to see if that helps. They only cost about 6 to 10 dollars a box. If that doesn't work, maybe the powder from the other gloves is getting into the air somehow. I am not sure how you would combat that. You might need to speak to your doctor about it and see if he has any suggestions. |
