Laser eye surgery - my eyesight is abot -1.75, is laser surg. available?

Will they do laser surgery on -1.75? It is not that bad eye sight really but I want to get it done as I am finding myself wearing glasses 90% of the time

Yes, a -1.75 rx is a perfect candidate for lasik. You just want to find a reputable surgeon. Ask around to friends and co-workers that have had it done. And most surgeons have free consultations - so they could answer any questions you have. It is definitely worth the money. I had it done 2 yrs ago and it is so nice to be free of glasses and contacts. Hope this helps!!

ive got exactly the same eyesight as u and ive just paid for a laser surgery next week os i guess its okay

I am sure any Eye laser surgy dr. will do it because you pay them too. But to let you know it is very expensive and you also end up wear glasses after a while for reading everyone I know who has had it done ends up having to get reading glasses. Good luck.

yes, your -1.75 is fine for lase surgery.

My husband had to see the Eye specialist at our local hospital - for a check up after hitting his head badly and getting double vision (which cleared up a couple of months before his appointment, but he went anyway!).
He asked about laser surgery and the Specialist advised him "don't go down that path" with your type of eyes.
It looks as though it would be a good idea to get independent advice before you jump into the system.

I had my eyes checked yesterday and they are now -10. I was chatting to the optician about laser surgery and he said he wouldn't recommend if for my eyes as it works best on lesser prescriptions. He said that for me they would have to laser away so much that I would be left with a very thin layer of cornea (I think he said cornea?!?) but I would guess that you would be a perfect candidate. I'll just stick to my daily lenses then! (But no glasses!!)

Yes, I work for Moorfields Eye Hospital and am -1.5 and -0.5. I know for a fact that most places will certainly laser up to +/- 5. A colleague of mine got her eyes lasered and she was -11!
