Laser eye surgery to correct vision? |
Has anyone had this done? My eyes are -4.25 in one eye and -4.75 in the other. I heard that laser surgery may not be completely successful because my vision is pretty bad. Is this true? Haven't been brave enough to take the plunge. Know of loads of people who have had the surgery successfully carried out. Also know of 1 person who was not successful. My vision also quite bad. Sought advise from optomitrist who advised against it...... The man who invented laser surgery HAS NOT had it done himself and is supposed to have said he would give it another 5 years to see how technology improves. Hope this helps. Technology has come a long way - Some doctors say that we're at laser's technological peak. ALL surgery carries risk, but only a doctor can give you best info on it. Depending on your age, you may a 2nd go to fix up the eye deterioration that comes with the tightening up of the muscles with age. Report It Oh... And your eyesight isn't that bad!!! Mine is -7.5!!! Report It I am gonna wait it out. I rather not take the chance of risking my eyes. Even if it is successful you get halos at night and dry eyes. Lasik surgery does have potential complications, though these are fairly uncommon. Some potential complications include: dry eyes, halos or starbursts around light sources, over or under correction, sensitivity to light, double vision, wrinkles in the 鈥渇lap,鈥?debris under the 鈥渇lap,鈥?induced astigmatism, and epithelium erosion. I heard they dont know what the long term affect may be? Iv'e had laser treatment but not for corrective reasons. i was going to have it done but so many people have told me that no matter what your eyes deteriorate over time anyway so in about 5 years you will need to have them done again so me not doing now waste of money I had laser surgery nearly two years ago and it is one of the best things I ever did - I wore contacts for over 10 years and was blind and a bay - I dont remember my perscription but it was 4.something! I can now see clearly, need no lenses/glasses and suffer no ill effects from the treatment. |
