Laser eye surgery, Have you had it done??

A local private clinic is offering laser eye surgery for 拢1500 per eye but optical express offers it from 拢395 per eye, what is the difference? Is it painful and is it worth it?

I had mine done about 12 years ago and it cost 拢750 for one eye and 拢500 for the other . Prices have dropped since then.

Optical express gets good reviews and probably is more up to date than the private clinic.

I've had no regrets and have saved what the treatment cost by not buying spectacles.

My friend and my MIL had it done.
It is not painful and both said it was the best thing they ever did.

i think its worth waiting another 5 to 10 years, we don't yet know the consequences of laser eye surgery... they say its safe, but that's in the short term... it hasn't been around for long enough to know if there is any long term problems.

My mum has had it done and she's over the moon with it. She said it was just uncomfortable the first few days. She paid more than that from optical express though because they offer you advanced treatments at a higher cost, the give excellent after care and she recommends them.

I have had it done (just before xmas). I doubt there are any major differences, but maybe they use slightly different technology. However, it might just be that the private clinic is a little more realistic about their prices. I had mine done at Optical Express but because of my prescription being pretty awful, it cost me just over 拢3k in total. Always makes me laugh when they advertise it so cheaply because I have never met anyone who paid 拢395 per eye!

However, it was the best thing I ever did. There was no pain while I was having it done (took about 20mins for mine). Only a little discomfort. My eyes were a bit sore afterwards but easily sorted by lying down in a darkened room for a while. Lots of drops to use for a few days afterwards. My prescription was -7 in both eyes and as soon as I sat up in the surgery, I could see the clock on the wall (last time I could do that I was probably about 9 and i'm 30 now) and less than 12 hours later, I had better than 20/20 vision and was able to drive.

I used to work at one of those clinics, and all the operations went well. You shouldn't have to pay 拢1500.00 that is far too much, the other price is much more as it should be. There can be some pain/discomfort after for a day or so but nothing you can't deal with. If I needed it, I would definitely go for it. Good luck.

EVERYBODY needs glasses when they're older anyway, so it looses it's point. If you're unhappy, hve it done, but it's an operation on ur eye, if something goes wrong, there is no going back.

Hi,I had laser treatment with optical express in august 07.
It costs much more than 拢395, I had the cheapest procedure it it cost 拢850 per eye !! There was alot of waiting around,but worth it ,it's changed my life.I had worn glasses for 30 years.

I had it done 4 years ago. It cost me about 拢1000 for both eyes, it was the best thing that I ever did (next after getting married and had 3 kids). I would definitely recommend it for you, it was a little uncomfortable but painless.
