What are symptoms of Laryngitis?

I don't want you to look it up then tell me, because I already did and me and my other two friends HAVE the symptoms but I wanna know from someone else who HAD Laryngitis and was told by a doctor they had it... So if you were told by a licensed doctor who did tests that you had Laryngitis, what were your symptoms?
Thanks

Laryngitis is an irritation and inflammation (swelling) of the larynx, or your voice box. Typically, if you have laryngitis, you'll have a sore throat, and you could possibly lose your voice temporarily, as the swelling in the larynx makes it more difficult for you to make your vocal chords vibrate.

Laryngitis is generally caused by a mild viral infection of the upper airway. There really aren't any definitive tests used to come up with a "diagnosis" of laryngitis. What you have is an upper respiratory infection that results in laryngitis.

If tests like a throat swab or blood tests are done, they are most likely to determine the presence or absence of strep.

If you have a sore throat, cold symptoms, loss of voice...I'd say it's safe to say you have some form of laryngitis, but giving it that label really doesn't change how it would be treated.

Hoarseness.

There aren't really tests, just symptoms. Give your throat some rest, keep it warm to stimulate blood flow, drink warm fluids to keep it loose and relaxed.

Interesting note: George Washington's official cause of death is acute laryngitis. When actually it was blood loss caused by the 'blood letting' cure of the time.

Phlemy cough, chest aches, runny nose, head ache, loosing your voice.

sometimes fever.

One doesn't need to do tests to know if they have Laryngitis, since it is just a label for a symptom or symptoms. Tests would only be necessary when the CAUSE seems unclear and symptoms persist, even with resting the voice. The symptom usually results from vocal strain and feels and sounds like a strained, hoarse, weak voice. Have had it a few times in my life.

Recently, Hillary Clinton had it, then Barack Obama, a few weeks ago. They overuse their voices and often are speaking loud, even shouting, which strains the vocal cords. Laryngitis is a rather common occupational hazard for politicians on the campaign trail. It's amazing more of them don't lose their voices, more often.
