Laryngitis due to respiratory infection - lost voice completely! Is this normal? |
I'm asthmatic, started coughing a lot a few days ago. Had bronchitis about a month ago, got better but after I went to the docs they said I have another respiratory infection. Yesterday, I was coughing a lot and was slowly starting to lose my voice. This morning, I have lost my voice COMPLETELY. The only thing that comes out when I try to cough is either a whisper or a whisper with a slight high pitched sound. My throat is starting to hurt do to the coughing and strain on my voice. Was put on a cough medicine that has codine and an antibiotic called clarithromyacin. As you're asthmatic it might be a good idea to go back to your doctor. Laryngitis can occur as a result or side effect of a respiratory infection, and can lead to the inability to speak. However, you know that asthma and respiratory infections are not a good mix as well as I do. If it gets worse, please do get further medical help. Looks like you might have to take a raincheck for tomorrow. What you can try though is some tea and honey. I hope that you saw your Pulmonolgist. The cought medicine with codine should also help. Do you have any racemic epinepherine. That might help. Hope you get your voice back soon. |
