Is laryngitis contagious? |
i just went to subway and the lady that made my sandwich obviously had laryngitis. Is it contagious? If so, how is it spread? Viral laryngitis is contageous. If you get it from screaming at the top of your lungs, its not contageous. no Laryngitis is not contagious per se, but the viral infection that leads to it can be. Laryngitis usually occurs secondary to a respiratory infection, but it is not a specific kind of infection - it is an inflammation of the voicebox. Laryngitis is just a sore throat. Inflammed due to many possible things including coughing (which sometimes is caused by other sicknesses), drinking, smoking, yelling, or being in a smokey environment. Itself is NOT contagious at all. More than likely, seeing as she works at a Subway, she was probably at a loud bar the night before and got laryngitis by a combination of drinking, smoking, and yelling over loud music. I wouldn't worry. If she were sick or contagious, they probably would not let her work. |
