Can singing cause laryngitis? |
ok so me and my friend were singing yesterday. Really loud, and my voice had gone in and out when I was singing. My voice felt kind of wierd when I talked. Like I was stretching for the words to come out. I have never belched out a song like that in my life, and now today, im in pain. Its only when I talk, I have pain on the left side of my throat. My voice goes in and out and i have a lot of flem at times. Can singing really cause laryngitis? I took voice for several years and know exactly what you mean. Straining can cause inflammation. The same thing happens when a person yells and cheers at a sporting event. It is like exercising...you are using muscles in a way you do not normally use them. Singers do scales and warm-ups and take care of their throats and vocal cords. But even with the best of care, sometimes sore, tight throats happen. If you have yellow or greenish phlegm and/or fever, you might want to check with your health care provider to make sure you do not have an infection. You probably strained your vocal chords singing. Absolutely. Laringitis can cause you not to be able to speak at all. Give your voice time and rest. If it continues....have it checked out by a doctor. My voice also goes in and out because I have polyps on my vocal chords that have never been removed yet. Instead of a smooth line in the vocal chord...it is bumpy. |
