Any old housewife tales or cures for recurring laryngitis ?

I have had laryngitis for the past two weeks and can't get my hoarse voice to go away and my chesty cough. No i don't smoke and i have been resting my voice. Any Ideas? and yes i have been to the doctor.

My mom does this:

Put vinegar in to a pot until it boils, then add sugar, wait until it starts burning and smoke comes out. Tur off the stove and walk around with the voporing/smoking pot.
This kills virus in the air and prevents re-infection. (this also works with regular cough and sinus, as well as flu.

Try gargling with TCP, this always helps sore throats and keeps the area germ free

hmm any old house wives cures-- one my granny told me too fix you up with your problemm-- loads of, jack daniels, or grenddine- and honey mix it up, get some grenidine-- and honey stir downe the hatch--- or try some nice jack daniels and get bombedd!!

gargle with cold tea.Rub Vicks on your chest and throat before bed, and plenty of water and vit c.

stop nagging your other half itll cheer both of u up.

honey and whisky , whisky kills bacteria and honey soothes .

Lots of time off work, get out and do the garden.Go xmas shopping.Clean the house through.Just take your mind off it and get a tube of throat sweets U,ll be fine

Tie a smelly sock around your neck, it did sod all for me , but you may be lucky! Try your local heath shop, should have plenty of old-time remedies available, and many of them natural products. I imagine you have had antibiotics, if they have not worked , ask the GP for a throat swab, perhaps you have resistance to some medicines. A lab scan of your swab can often indicate the right treatment.

honey and lemon
