Laryngitis! Help. Will it ever go away? |
For the past week, I've had a basic cold. Loss of appetite, couldn't sleep, and mostly it was just a very sore throat. No other symptoms other than I was really tired. So now I got my appetite back and am sleeping better. Even my sore throat is not really hurting anymore. But the last 2-3 days I was losing my voice and today I lost it completely. It won't let up. I can't speak at all and I can barely whisper (which they recommend I don't do). WHEN WILL THIS GO AWAY??? ok, laryngitis is usually a viral infection, you do not need antibiotics, just give your voice a rest (no shouting or a lot of talking), if you were a smoker you should stop smoking for a while, and drink warm stuff yes it will go away, but you will most likley need to see a Dr. for antibiotics. until then try gargling with some warm mild salt water or a hot drink of 1 cup water , juice of one lemon and 3tbls honey.hope it helps You are in the final stages, and will be over it soon. Don't worry there are no long term effects. I speak from experience. take your meds, rest, take lots of vitamen C. also, try giving your voice a rest. but are you sure its laryngitis? sounds like a severe tonsil infection to me. you might want to see a doctor about it. if it is, you'll probably have to take them out. anyways, good luck and get well soon!! it will go ,start with antibiotics ,decongestants ,anti inflammatory drugs PLUS keep your mouth shut ,absolute vocal rest is advised with steam inhalation of tincture benzoine twice or thrice daily. 6 inhalers that I used caused laryngitis |
