Laryngitis-NOTHING'S HELPING? |
i have asked already a few times but nothing has worked or even mildly helped for that matter. other than the obvious like votamins, tea, lozenges and vocal rest, what can get me my voice back the fastest? ok people, i am the single mother of a 4 year old. making no sounds is not really an option. there has got to be a better way. Hi. You don't say if this is a result of a virus/illness or over use of your voice. Having just suffered from Laryngitis resulting from a virus (Parainfluenza) I can tell you what I did that helped. Don't use your voice at all. Avoid lozenges with menthol and/or camphor. That can dry out your throat. There rreally isn't much you can do, other than stay hydrated. voice rest means make no sounds, and be silent it may take a week or two, nothing is as fast as a video game so just expect it to take time. complete and total vocal rest- especially DO NOT whisper which is actually harder on your vocal cords than talking! If it persists too much longer, I would go back to the Dr. Have you been checked for polyps or other things that could be causing this to last so long? Try gargling with a little warm salt water. Laryngitis is inflammation of the larynx, usually due to a virus or overuse. The result is acute change in the voice, with decreased volume and hoarseness. Diagnosis is based on clinical findings. Laryngoscopy is required for symptoms > 3 wk. Viral laryngitis is self-limited. Other infectious or irritating causes may require specific treatment. |
