Weird Symptoms of Lactose Intolerance?

It seems when I drink any kind of milk or cottage cheese, etc, I get flu-like symptoms like chills and sweaty. Also, it feels like there is a rock in my stomach for days and, in the past, I tried to puke but couldn't. Does this happen to you (only those that have lactose intolerance)?

My 2 grandson's are Lactose Intolerance and have been since birth and couldn't drink formula with Iron in it either! They both got sick off simulac formula, they ended up having to drink soy formula's only!

It's a every day struggle of having to watch what they eat at home and away from home! We found that 2% and 1% milk was alot easier for them, but we still have to watch, that they don't drink to much of it! Small glasses only! But ice creams they can't have, cheese constipates them if they eat to much!

Cottage cheese and whole milks are about the worst for them, and now there 1 and 2 years old! But the doctors say they could grow out of it too! I myself can't eat fried or boiled or scambled eggs, and I have been like that my whole life! If there mixed into things like cakes etc. I can tolerate them much better!

And milk has been rough on me too! But I find 2% doesn't cause as much troubles! But like the doctors have told us, never eat dairy products when you have a empty stomach, that's when it will be the worse effects!!! try drinking only 1% milk! They do make a soy milk that we had to give to the kids for a while and slowly mixed in 2% milk to help on the taste!

And there is a milk you can make yourself, I forget who makes it! Maybe Carnations makes it! But it's powered milk that you add water, and sugar if you want! but most people don't like using it on cereals! because it looks like diluted milk! But it isn't horrid tasting!!! You can get use too it after about 2 days, and only because it's something new you never had before!

You would be better off, trying differnet things in small quanities so you can see what causes you problems and what don't as long as you don't drink or eat to much of the products! I know this may sound weird, but I get sick eating applesause, and it don't make any difference what brand it is either! My gutt feels like a volcano ready to erupt! And it feels like someone stabbing my gutt with a screw driver and swisting it all over!

But for you maybe eating and drinking way smaller quanites of dairly products could make a huge difference! Maybe some things would be better then others! I guess I was Lactose Intolerance when I was born and all the way until I was about 5 years old, but then it started to go away some what! I always figured I could eat anything I wanted to! And anything I did get sick from I would just not eat or drink anymore!

But now that I'm much older now, I can't eat half the stuff I did when I was a teen! I guess that comes with age!!!LOL!!! I use to love eating all kinds of spicy foods, If I do it now! I will suffer for days with gutt aches and heartburn so bad, it feels like a heart attack and diarrhea for days! And of course sometimes I take chances and eat the stuff anyway! Glutton for punishment I guess! I'm married to pepto-bismol! Hope they never stop making it or I'll be in a heap of trouble! I'll end up having to eat baby food!!! LMAO!!!

We only live once right!!! Can't give up all the goodies in the world!!!

The signs and symptoms of lactose intolerance usually begin 30 minutes to two hours after eating or drinking foods that contain lactose. Common signs and symptoms include:

Diarrhea, which is the most common symptom
Nausea
Abdominal cramps
Bloating
Gas
Symptoms are usually mild but may sometimes be severe. The severity of symptoms doesn't correlate with the degree of lactose malabsorption. Instead, symptoms relate to a range of factors, including ethnicity, age and how fast you digest food.

You can't improve your body's ability to produce lactase. But you can usually control the symptoms of lactose intolerance by modifying your diet and using special products made for people with this condition.

You may not have to completely avoid dairy foods. Most people with lactose intolerance can enjoy some milk products without symptoms. You may even be able to increase your tolerance to dairy products by gradually introducing them into your diet.
