Lactose intolerance question...?

I am lactose intolerant and was looking to drink a protein energy drink. It is 100% whey... but indicates that its completely lactose free. Would I be able to have this? I thought whey was like lactose?

lactose is milk sugar which is a disaccharide or the combination of two sugars. lactose being galactose + glucose

most quality whey proteins are lactose free, however to be sure just get a whey protein isolate they cost slightly more but are of a higher quality
