At home drug test VS laboratory test? |
I smoked 26 days ago (today is 4/20..hehe) and last night I passed an at-home drug test. I took a drug test today for my probation officer and they sent it out for lab results. Is there a chance that I will not pass my lab test even though I passed the at home test?? The chances are very low. At-home tests in general are known as "simple screening tests". These tests are designed to be "better safe than sorry", which means if there is any hint of what you are looking for, it will be positive. That is in contrast to "confirmatory tests" (only at labs) which are designed to take the results from "screening tests" and make sure that they do in fact have exactly what was being investigated. A good example is home pregnancy tests, where a positive result will not always be confirmed by a professional lab (called false positive) but a negative result is almost always true. |
