Repair crooked nose?

I have a hump on my nose and I've been trying to find info on if it could be covered in any way. Sometimes I have trouble breathing clearly and six years ago when I saw an ear/nose/throat specialist for another problem, he said something about me having a deviated septum or something of the sort -- not being straight.

My nose really bothers me in a more cosmetic sense than anything, & I'm wondering if there was any way to get insurance to cover any of it, & how much would be left for me to pay approx. if they did cover anything? How many surgeons out there accept a payment plan? Are they hard to find?

For my insurance I found this:

in network
ANESTHESIA SERVICES FOR NOSE & SINUS PROCEDURES - $535 (your cost 0)
REPAIR CROOKED NOSE - $646 (your cost 0)
TISSUE TEST BY LABORATORY PHYSICIAN [III] $31 (your cost $20)
OPERATING ROOM CHARGES FROM FACILITY - $664 (your cost 0)

out of network

You pay $4,025.

Would this get rid of the hump on my nose or would it be doing something else?

It also says this "Physicians Who Often Treat REPAIR CROOKED NOSE:
Otolaryngologist"

I don't know if that helps.

Usually a plastic surgeon would do a rhinoplasty to change the shape of your nose, and no, that would not be covered by insurance because it is cosmetic.

However, if you're having trouble breathing then insurance should cover it because it's causing a medical problem. If you can get a doctor to examine you and say that your nose is causing a breathing problem, then you could probably get your insurance to cover a rhinoplasty or similar procedure.

Since you're involving some medical issues, it may or may not be a plastic surgeon who performs the nose reshaping. If it is a plastic surgeon though, then they usually have many payment plans that they offer - most people put it on a credit card though.

Treating the breathing problem alone is also a possibility, and that may be covered fully depending on your insurance. (I'd assume this is what all the "in network" statements you gave are talking about)

Now that I've answered your question as best I can, I'd just like to say that if you're doing this purely for the cosmetic effects then you may want to take a good long look in the mirror and try not to see your reflection, just see the girl looking back. Ask yourself if she'll really feel better about her self after wards. No one needs cosmetic surgery, it's purely a want thing. You have to ask yourself if it's really worth it.
