Lasik doctors giving me the runaround, how do I choose? |
One popular lasik doctor said my corneas are flat and he can't do anything for me. Another VERY popular lasik doc. said that's hogwash, of COURSE he can help me with my flat corneas. Who's telling the truth and why the difference of opinions? No matter what 'procedure' you have, sooner or later you'll need to wear glasses to either read or see at distance. Your lens grows at it ages and within 3 years after your surgery, they'll need to 'adjust' your surgery a little. The cornea is a very thin tissue, 1mm thick. GREAT ANSWER! Report It It could just be a matter of skill. See what the doc that said he can help you wants to do. Then follow up with the other doctor and see if he thinks it will work. ive had the same thing. heres the situation. if u have thickened corneas they must remove the cornea for fixing and not just putting small gash lines in the cornea to cause it to weight properly on the eyes so u can see better. i have hit the limit of regular lasix with my astigmatism and can only have the cornea removal part. most doctors have a limit. however it can be done. There are different types of LASIK available and not all ophthalmologists offer each type. Perhaps the first doctor only does a traditional LASIK but the second may do IntraLase LASIK. I'd be hesitant about any doc that blows off a possible complication. If you decide to go ahead with LASIK do a lot of research so you know what types of technology are available and what the differences are. Ask lots of questions. Did either of the doctors tell you why flat corneas can be a problem or what the possible side effects would be? Did they explain which procedures are available at their office and which procedures are right for your particular situation? |
