Lasik surgery advice need help...? |
Hello I am a 17 year old male and live in Massachussetts. I am interested in lasik surgery and am joining the United States Marine Corps. My primary concern is my eyes being "repaired" for 4 years until I am out of the Marines. My question is, is it legal in the state of mass. to get lasik surgery at the age of 17, if not where is it legal? If it is legal in Mass. any ideas where i could get it done? Thanks for your time you can come to Egypt and I can get it done for you , but I would recommend you do the new wavefront tracking femtosecond lasik at the states , better but still not approved by FDA . Are you required to have parental consent for medical procedures at 17 in Mass? If so you would need parental consent but it is otherwise legal. However that said it is not generally recommended to have lasik that early as your vision generally still changes until your early to mid 20's. The general recommendation is not to have lasik unitl your vision has not changed for at least full year. If you have it before that you will eventually have to have it done again after your vision stabilizes in order to not need glasses or contacts. You have to be 18, but I'd wait until after you join because Tricare pays for the active duty service member to get Lasik. What sucks is they wont pay for their spouse to get it so Im paying out of pocket. |
