Lasik or PRK? Cost? Benefit? |
In Orange County, CA, I was referred to a laser specialist who offers both Lasik and PRK. Apparently Lasik is cheaper but PRK has benefits. PRK is better , but both share hazards , you need to read the consent of the operation carefully before you go for it . Is PRK better than LASIK?? -- It depends on the patient in question. There are basically four aspects of your cornea the surgeon examines, the shape, thickness, prescription, or pupil size. If all are well within normal limits, LASIK is usually offered, otherwise if there is a borderline reading, PRK is a safer bet. Do your research and see multiple surgeons around your area. I would definitely consider seeing someone at an academic setting (e.g. University). |
