Can LASIK eye surgery treat lazy eyes?

i have a lazy eye. just my left eye. im wearing contact lenses and sometimes glasses. however i want my eyesight to improve without wearing either contacts or eyeglasses. ive heard of lasik eye surgery and as per my doctor it isnt advisable. do you think lasik eye surgery would still work even for lazy eyes?

If your doctor says that LASIK is inadvisable for you...then listen to him/her...they know your eyes best...better than anyone out here.

This is what my LASIK/PRK surgeon told me and my husband:

LASIK will only correct you to the best vision that glasses or contacts can...so if in your contacts you can only see 20/30...that's all the improvement that LASIK will do. LASIK cannot be guaranteed to reach that level of correction, let alone go beyond.

And an excerpt from the below link:

Can Lasik eye surgery help 鈥榣azy eye鈥?

For patients suffering from amblyopia, Lasik eye surgery may help some adults see better but it cannot 鈥榗ure鈥?the brain鈥檚 inability to see. Lasik eye surgery cannot repair the way that the retinal cells send images to your brain. Lasik eye surgery cannot go back and correct the normal neurological connections that failed to develop in an infant due to lack of light stimulation. What Lasik eye surgery can do is help to reduce nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism which helps to insure that the image is in the correct position on the retina. But this does not guarantee better vision at any price. Be sure to have a frank talk with your doctor prior to Lasik eye surgery to see if he or she feels that you will have vision improvement. Don鈥檛 be afraid to get a second and third opinion from different Lasik eye surgeons to see if they feel that Lasik eye surgery is a valid option for treating amblyopia. It鈥檚 easy to find someone who will be willing to take your hard earned money. Make sure that you feel that they鈥檝e earned your trust and that they truly feel that Lasik eye surgery will improve your vision.

I hope this helps, but only you and your eye doctor can make the decision if LASIK will help in your individual case.

Good luck :)

nope, it cant treat lazy eyes/ a lazy eye

sorry =[

They recommend that LASIK only be used to fix simple eye problems such as near sightedness. Try looking at this article for more information: http://articles.directorym.com/Lasik_Eye...

Nope.

My friend got it, actually, but it made her lazy eye worse.

no.. but lazy eyes can b treated by covering ur nonlazy eye.. so basically u wear an eyepatch.. and read or see things with ur lazy eye

No. LASIK is a procedure that is done on the cornea of your eye. "Lazy Eye" is more of muscular problem, and may even be a nerve issue.
