Results of Lasik?

Please, please only answer these questions if you have had Lasik done.
Were you satisfied with the procedure?
Was it painful?
Any problems afterwards?
I have very bad vision in both eyes. With contacts the correction is at about -7.00. I would be so glad to be contact-free as I've been wearing contacts now for almost 20 years. But, can lasik correct my vision enough not to need glasses or contacts? Is it worth the cost, are there any issues I need to be aware of, etc?

I had the procedure done ( LASIK not PRK) almost two years ago. It is not painful just a weird experience. You do feel some pressure and if your eyes are small than sometimes the instrument that holds your eye open is a bit uncomfortable.
Dry eye can always be an issue usually not too bad if you are young. I would do it again just make sure you to lots of research on procedures, technology and surgeons.

Good luck

Two of my friends had Lasik done in canada before it was able to be done here and they say that you have blurred vision for a day or so but after that it's great. No pain either.

I've had it done and something went wrong.
During the surgery, I felt something painful in my left eye. The doctor even paused in his procedure.
Unfortunately for me the clinic where I had it done is full of s#@! and they won't tell me what went wrong, probably because they feel that I can live with my suffering.
The worse is probably that no other doctor was capable of telling me what went wrong, and 2 of the 4 I've consulted where kind of reluctant of helping me thouroughly. I've even felt that they were helping their colleague by expediting my exam or by acting a little too friendly.
I am quite satisfied with the work done on my right eye, I have 20/20 vision but with some night vision minor problems like halos or blur, but nothing dramatic as night vision can take a bit longer to recompose.
I must add that if you would decide to go with the procedure, go with the newest one Zyoptix if you can as it supposedly reduces night vision problems.
Waking up without having to look for one's glasses is the best that can be, but without discomfort in the eye as well!!
Good luck with your surgery if you go for it.

i think getting the surgery was one of the best decisions i've ever made, and it is worth the money.
to answer your questions:
yes, i am still completely satisfied with my results (5 years later)=)
the procedure is not painful. when i had mine done, they were still having to cut and fold back the cornea (which only last like 5 seconds and doesnt hurt any worst than stubbing your toe, then the pain is completely gone), but now i hear that with some lasers, they dont have to do that anymore. but that was the only "painful" part (keep in mind, your eyes have been numbed, and they give you a couple of valium before the surgery, so even the slightest bit of discomfort felt like nothing).
i had no problems afterwards. i sat up, and i could see imediately! it was cloudy, but not blurry. i could see clear and crisp, but it looked like there was an actual cloud in the room and i could see through it to very easily read the clock across the room. the entire procedure took only a few minutes. they let me relax in dimly lit room afterwards. they sent me home with a few sleeping pills because they want you to rest your eyes the rest of the day, overnight and then your fine the next day. no pain the whole time.
the only bad thing was that i couldn't wear eyeliner or mascara for the next week.
the pharmasist said that the most important thing is to keep putting in the eye drops they give you for at least 2 weeks. he said that he didn't and his surgery was a failure because of it. so i did my drops and i have absolutley no complaints.

Had it done four months ago. Very satisfied. No pain during procedure and no problems afterwards. Definitely worth the money!!
