Scoliosis or kyphosis - any advice? |
My 14 month old son has 43 degree kyphosis in his T12 7 L1 vertebrae. He does not have scoliosis yet but it will lead to this without surgery. Do you or does anyone you know suffer from kyphosis/scoliosis? Is it very painful? What do you do to alleviate the pain? My main question is, what type of mattress is best for comfort when sleeping (hard or soft). My sweet, little boy has such difficulty getting comfortable at night. you need an orthopaedically designed mattress/ bed. (which is neither soft nor hard, something in between. But yet, he'd experience difficulty in lying supine, he'd find the most convenient position on his own which is lying on sides at night. It wouldnt be that painful yet, the more chronic it becomes, and the more he ll be in the upright position (standing) the more painful it will become (by time). You may need a trunk brace to support him while he's in the sitting/standing position untill the time of operation. Scoliosis must not be the point of concern at the moment.Good luck and heres a thorough detailed website about kyphosis for further knowledge; http://www.emedicine.com/orthoped/topic5... |
