Very Serious Question. Please do not answer unless you have personal or Medical knowledge?

Again, this is a very serious question. I have chronic pain from Scoliosis, Kyphosis, Stenosis, & Degenerative Disc Disease.
I've had ESI's at a Pain Management Clinic, take strong pain RX, am Diabetic, recently spent 3 weeks in a "Psych Ward" for Suicidal Ideation, was placed on Antidepressants and Mood Stabilizers. (I was diagnosed w/ Depressive Bi-Polar Disorder). I'm 66. Is there anyone who knows of any other ways to help me? My life seems to be spiraling out of control and I feel I'm too young to be throwing in the towel, although most days, all I can do is lie in bed and suffer. I also have early onset Allztheimers - I am very distraught and discouraged. I worked for 36 years and raised three sons alone and want to enjoy life and my grandchildren. I would appreciate any suggestionns and/or encouragement. Of course, I see my Internal Medicine Physician once a month, a Therapist once a month, and a Psychiatrist once a month and follow closely all their advise.PLs advise.

My Daughter suffers with Bi-Polar and I can tell you this, if you are not on the correct medicine, it can make your symptoms worse. It took her a couple of years to get on a Medicine that was right for her and when she did, she became a new Person. You do not state what kind of medicine you are on, but obviously it is not working. Talk to your Doctor and get him to change your medicine. I suffer with RA Daily and have degenerative Bone disease and yes it is very painfull. I am on alot of Meds for it but my Doctor also has me on Celexa for Depression and it works for me.. Hang in there, those GrandKids are worth Fighting for..

you sure are having it rough=if you are a believer ,give it over to God and get on with things=days that are bad ,stay in bed=days that are good ,enjoy the family =with your multiple problems you need some happiness =ask if there is a place to go to to have a bit of fun on the good days=God Bless

wow. you really do need some help. do you have any friends that you can do fun things with? go on vacation? get up everyday and motivate your self at all? my mother in law is similar to you and i feel for you. sounds like you know what going on though. maybe you need to see a professional more often? my mother in law see's someone twice a month. maybe you need to see someone new? change is not a bad thing. try to be happier, and find yourself around happier things. good luck to you

Pain or depression alone can feel like an overwhelming obstacle, both are a real double whammy.
Feeding and dwelling on positive thoughts can help keep your attitude/feelings from getting the better of you. How about books on cassette, some positive, affirming material?
It sounds like you have a good support system in place, but the daily passing of time may be the hardest part. Try to pass the time listening to uplifting speech, or stories.
Best wishes.

You sound as though you are well aware and capable in your mental faculty. What you need are people. Love and people.
I am sorry that you are in so much pain and suffering as you do. I cannot account for any medical advice. I can however speak from experience in these matters of hopelessness.
Sir or Ma'am, I would say that God is calling to you.
I am not sure what to believe of your faith in such as this,
but I know that God rarely enters into people's front and center stage, without a bit of suffering. The worse the suffering, the more stubborn the individual on a particular issue that concerns the Lord. Perhaps we could speak on the matter, and I may find the route of your troubles. Hope may only be restored, as well as good health, by your faith. We must uncover that which has faltered you. Contact me via Email if you wish. I am happy to assist another life in the ways of the universe.

You are doing all the right things. Stay with the professionals and take the meds they offer. I can't add to that.

But what I will say is that it sounds like you have had a very productive, fulfilling life, so if you have hit a downslide at 66, I feel quite confident that with the right treatment, you will regain your life. It is just the way it works. No throwing in the towel yet.

My mum has spinal stenosis anddegenerative disc disease. She had lots of falls and ended up ina wheelchair. She did not give up.She was determined to be useful to the end.Up until the last 3 days of her life she was crocheting and doing other little things. She lived for her family.Dont get discouraged. You can still live a normal life and make the most of it.By the way she was 83

I am not a doctor, but I have been on pain meds for an extended period before. They made me crazy after a while - like after a year or so - like I was worthless and that nothing was ever going to be right in my life.

Once I got off of them my life got so much better even though I endure the pain. It was hard to even consider because I don't like to hurt, but I realized that I felt like crap anyway - whether I was on the meds or not! I also realized that I was going to feel like crap whether I was inactive or not, so, I decided I was going to be up and active vs. laying around. Being inactive makes the depression so much worse.

I'll say a prayer for you and I hope you find encouragement. Your local church may be able to help as well. Finding people of a similar faith that you can feel a part of goes a long way toward lifting the clouds.

"Be aware of the misery and what you're miserable about and be as miserable as you can be."

Go beyond the fear, you will come out the other side.

My suggestion to you is make sure that each of your doctor's are aware of the drugs that the other docs have ordered. I know it sounds simple, but you may be having drug interactions from the medications that these doctors are ordering. Keep a current list of medications with you and take to all your appointments. I may be grasping at straws here but you would be surprised how many times diagnoses are made when the symptoms are actually related to drug interactions.
Also with your diagnosis of Alzheimers, maybe set your medication up in pill reminder containers so that your not accidently taking your medication more often then you should. Its hard for me to remember if I have taken my pills sometimes and I dont have Alzheimers , not trying to be funny.
I hope you have family support, someone to help when needed. Good luck with everything. Hope this helps in some way.
