Total Knee Replacement Question? |
I had a total knee replacement done in December and it is still aching, expecially if I walk a distance. When does it finally stop hurting and feeling normal. in had mine in september...and, still the same, but they told me it takes about a year to fully recover! sorry!!! Honestly, you are looking at minimally one year of discomfort. It may never feel normal, as you may never get back all of your flexion. You aren't even't at the 6 month mark. It still has 20-30% improvement left in function, let alone pain level. I know how you feel. I had all of the cartilage in my knee transplanted in December. The recovery is worse than that of a TKR. I am still in bed with my CPM machine if it makes you feel any better. But anyway, with any major knee surgery like that you are looking at about 12 months until you feel "normal" again. You should get better with every week that goes by. If you are still unsure, give your surgeon a call. If you live in a cold climate ...it will take longer than if you are where it is warm. It never will feel normal...it's not. I'm at 19 months. Pain is gone during distance walks but grinding noise isn't. |
