Does anyone plan on getting a knee replacement or already have one?

I'm 20 years old, Ive had arthritias for 18 years, my doctor told me when i was 18 that i would need a knee replacement on my right knee, is there any other good option? I cant go to the store and walk around for long then I always have to sit down for 20 minutes. is anyone thinking about getting a knee replacement or anyone already have gotten one and do you regret getting it and how long did the pain from the surgery last for?

You are so young to be having this problem, but my sister h had her left knee done on Feb 06, and will be having surgery on her right knee on May 30, 06. She is doing wonderful and looking forward to getting her legs back to where she can walk again. Like you , she had to use a wheel chair or not walk at all. Just listen to your doctor, and I will keep you in prayer for fast healing. God Bless You. Just trust in the Lord. He will help you through it.

HI THERE, I HAVE HAD TWO KNEE REPLACEMENTS AND I AM SO PLEASED I HAVE A NEW RELEASE OF LIFE. NO MORE PAIN.
OK, THE OPERATION TAKES AN HOUR, I WAS OUT OF HOSPITAL ON 5TH DAY ON CRUTCHES, WERE ON THEM FOR 6 WEEKS. THERE IS PAIN AT FIRST, BUT YOU ARE GIVEN PAINKILLERS. ON SECOND DAY YOU HAVE PHYSIO , THEY GIVE YOU EXERCISES TO DO AND PLEASE DO THEM, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO GET THOSE MUSCLES ABOVE YOUR KNEE STRONG. ALSO THE KNEE , IF YOU DONT DO THEM IT JUST BECOMES TOO TIGHT TO BEND. I HAD MIND DONE ONE YEAR APART. I AM EVER SO PLEASED WITH THE OPS. GO FOR IT. YOU WONT LOOK BACK.
