Is there an option to repairing a knee that has worn out cartilage, besides total knee replacement? |
Both my knees had no viable cartilage, so 3 years ago I had a tolal replacement on my left knee. It worked and I am almost pain free in the replaced knee. But I just cannot bring myself to go through such a dufficult, painful process to fix my right knee! I still have to walk with a cane or walker due to the terrible pain in my right knee, but what I went through with my 1st repacement was so hard I can't face it again!!! I am looking for a less invasive alternative. Help!!! Thanks for the info and encouragement. I will give another replacement more consideration! The only other option I've heard of is injections to fill the now empty space between bones. This is not a permanent procedure it has to be repeated as needed. Full knee replacement is the only permanent solution I know of. I am sorry Sunny I don't know of any other option for this. on the positive side though let me tell you about my mom. She is 79 years old now and feels better than she did when she was in her 50's. She also had to undergo the procedure on both of her knees. It was hard on her but she did her rehabilitation and now she walks pain-free without a cane and she worked until 2 years ago as a vendor. When she needed the sugery she was in pain all the time. You can make it through this procedure again I know you can. Just keep thinking about your future without a crutch or cane and best of all the painful knee will be replaced and you will feel good again. Good luck to you. |
