Has anyone ever had a knee replacement without using a tourniquet?

If someone that has had bypass surgery on their leg and has to have a knee replacement a tourniquet will cut off the blood supply to the lower leg, therefore the reason for the question.

Here's the deal,a tourniquet can only be in place for a certain period of time and the OR crew and Anesthesia personnel watch that time very closely so as to not compromise that time period.
Should the surgery require more time than the alloted time for tourniquet time, the tourniquet is turned off and there is another period of time that they have to wait until the tourniquet can be turned back on.
Most generally once the tourniquet is turned on the surgery is usually completed within the allotted time as they do not turn the tourniquet on until they are totally and completely ready for it. . . every little thing that can be done without the tourniquet is done before turning the tourniquet on.

Your's is a VERY good question and something that few people know. Sure beats the usual,I got something in my eye and I can't sleep questions. . . . THANKS! !

Have you not considered that this operation is performed hundreds of times in a day with no complications? Even bilaterally? If a surgeon says it can be done, it can be done. No surgeon wants lawsuit or death on their watch.
