Has anyone else had a total knee replacement due to arthritis?

On Sept. 20th I had a total knee replacement. Wondering how others are doing in recovery.

I had a TKR on September 24th. This was my third replacement, and the second on this knee. Prior replacement on this knee was 16 years ago. The old hardware was very worn and damaged. At just over 5 weeks I have 110-120 degree range of motion and my knee is perfectly straight. I have the greatest physical therapists. the pain is sometimes unbearable and it does wear on my good nature. I know this can continue for some time and get very tired and impatient with the thought of how long it keeps me from doing the things I love.

I might add that the old hardware never did give me any pain. It merely started to creak and groan and when I went to the doctor to see what was going on, an x-ray revealed the need for a re-do. Since I knew what to expect, I really dreaded this third time around. Luckily, all has gone well and with good pain meds I've been able to tolerate these past few weeks.

I hope you are experiencing good results and a relatively pain free recuperation.

Not yet, but I'm working on it.

Had one two years ago, nothing buy a horror story since.....

The cost of knee joint replacement surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. You can get the surgery done there in a fraction of cost of what would you pay in USA or private UK

There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges orthopaedic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for American and Canadian patients as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by NHS in the UK.They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your joint surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin also got her hip replacement surgery for in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. Hope this helps.
