How can I help my sister get a knee replacement with out insurance?

My Sister lost her health insurance She desperatly needs a knee replacement Iam working her job and mine so she can keep her job we have no one to turn to if we could find a Dr in Ohio that would let us make payments I would work 3or 4 jobs just to pay the bill please help

Has she applied for Medicare/Medicaid? That should be her first step. If she can't qualify contact a not for proffit hospital and ask for a patient advocate/social worker, generally if you can prove hardship and that the procedure is necessary they will do the procedure on a sliding scale or the advocate can help you find other options to get this paid for. It will probably depend a lot on how necessary the surgery is. Of course it's necessary to you and her, but in the eyes of the person paying, if they deem it necessary you could get a break.

Thats great! Good luck to her! I hope it all works out for her! What a great sister you are to do so much for her!!!

Much Love!

Are you interested in having a knee replacement in Thailand? Since in Thailand have many doctors who graduated and well trained in European Countries or in US and the price are competitive. For example, the price for knee replacement which include everything is approx. USD 8,500. The treatment will be done with specialise doctor at a very high standard hospitals and nursing team. You may find for more referral as seen in CBS TB'60 minutes and in Time Magazine at (www. cbsnews.com/stories2005/04/21/60minutes/...
However, more information of your sister is will be very helpful as such how old is she, which side of her knee and also if you have her x-ray result would be very helpful though.

No one cares about people who don't have insurance. Unless you find a really generous doctor, that is.

I strongly recommend you to get your knee surgery in India.Orthopaedic surgery is very cheap in India. This company is very famous in India that arranges orthopaedic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as all surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your sisters knee surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Two of my patients got hip surgery in India through one company called forerunners healthcare. One was a candidate for total hip replacement and the other was a candidate for hip resurgacing.
Both are doing extremely fine since 1 year.

My cousin also got her knee replacement surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .SHe is more than very happy with the results. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps.I strongly recommend this company to you as this can be of big help to you.

Some body in the answer above mentioned you to go to Thailand-
I sincerely advice you not to do that.I have seen messed up cases coming out from Thailand. There was a case of Fibromyalgia who needed no surgical intervention and was operated for multiple spine surgeries.Just dont do that if you care for your sister.Dont you see-- 33% of the doctors in USA are from INdia and 40 % in Uk are from India--they have such high clincial acumen.Besides as far as i Know, the surgery cost in India is lower than Thailand.
