Is it wise to walk for 30 minutes a day/5 days a week, 6 months after total knee replacement surgery?

My Mother is 65. She had total knee replacement surgery on one leg 6 months ago. Flew through quality rehab, impressing everyone with how well she recovered. Bone density test doesn't indicate osteoporosis. She is 135 lbs. 5'2" tall. Regular, thorough checkups reveal no health issues, save a bit of mild arthritis in the other knee and in her hands. She has no problems (yet) with the replacement knee.

Every person has a different response, but if she is suffering no ill effects, she is probably OK to continue. Walking is a low impact exercise that should not necessarily affect the integrity of the prosthesis. Yet, the surgeon would know more about the condition her knee was in at the last check up as well as the integrity of the prosthesis. This is great for her cardiovascular system as well.

I would say she needs to talk to a doctor.

More power to her! It sounds like she's doing everything just right. Go walking with her. The more exercise she gets, the better.

Yes. And if she can do more she should exercise is the key to recovery!
