I am 47, good health, no injuries, however my left knee is swollen and painful. What is water on the knee? |
My joints have been sore all over, and I have gained about 20 pounds. My left leg feels heavy now. Could it be from not wearing good support shoes? I walk alot, have kids and dogs; am pretty active but no strength workout or anything. I have been feeling puffy all over, thought it was just the weight gain. I am on no meds. I hope this helps! Water on the knee is excess fluid that accumulates in or around your knee joint. Your doctor may refer to this condition as a knee "effusion." Painful knee effusions may be the result of trauma, overuse injuries or an underlying disease or condition. Ice helps and keep up on pillow when resting. See your Doctor if it continues. Good Luck! Did you chaange your diet?? Increased sodium can casue water retention. Do you eat alot of deli meats, ie; ham, salami, cured meats? These will increase your sodium as well as uric acid. Uric acid is commonly associated with gout, painful swelling in the extremities, mainly the big toe. It can also deposit in your joints and cause pain and swellin there as well. Reduce the amounts of these types of food and drink plenty of water to flush your body. Sodium. Change your diet. My mom is your age, and here feet swell up. But that's because of her high blood pressure. You should go and make an appointment, and get it checked out. |
