Knee injury...? |
ok i injured my knee back in June(see other ?'s) and have to date had 4 months of therapy, 3 cortizone injections, 2 MRI's; both of which only show the injury to my MCL. However when i went back to the Doctor on December 18th he had mentioned doing a scope to "see if the MRI had missed anything" he said that for now it could be put off and was up to me how soon we did the surgery. I have two questions. *after riding stationary bike, knee feel as though it may buckle(relatively new symptom) I just had knee scope surgery 10 days ago - I had tore my menscus same type symptoms and had cartlidge damage the surgery took 45 mins I went home 1 hour after was in bed maybe 24 hours then slowly back walking , I was on full crutches 2-3 days and 1 crutch a couple more I started therapy yesterday I am nearly walking normal I have no pain just swelling and tightness everyday is better. My leg feels so much better since the surgery sorry im not a doctor so i dont know.. but i know how you feel! i tore my ACL when i was in second grade! my doctor couldnt believe it cause i was so young. i had about 6 surgeries on it and took about 4 months of therapy. i did have the scope thingy too, i hated it, i still have problems with my knee (not bad problems) i just cant sit on it. and im 20! but i would do the surgery. im glad i did! so good luck with everything! my son just recovered from ACL injury. Do not do anything with it until you are fixed up. You can cause perminent damage. Don't leave these things to long if you need surgery.Surgery done to soon or too late after the injury makes a difference on how you heal. My son had surgery in DEC and was back playing full copacity football 6 months later with no sign of injury, and full motion back. I thought the scope was used BEFORE the MRI with the MRI being the final tool. Maybe seek a second opinion here. 1. yeah it is possible that the MRI missed something, but its not likely. |

Sounds to me Meniscus as well as MCL. I know, It (MCL) shouldnt be causing you that much trouble after 8 months. MRIs are less accurate in meniscus tears. They are usually good with ligaments. But ... its possible that the dr missed something, MRIs do not always show menisci tears. and Even though the MCL injury you have is"minor" the dr has your knee in a brace like that to protect it... Whenever there is any injury, even a small bruise, there is tissue damage. With tissue damage comes inflammation to protect your body from infection and help heal the damage that has been done. It ... I'm no medical expert, but its better to be safe then sorry so I'd get it checked out by your GP ...By filling out the workers comp form you have preserved your options. Give it a day or two to see if it's injured or just bruised. ...My knee was doing the same thing yours. My started to get worse, it got to the point, I had to pull myself up the stairs. I was in so much pain. I had a MRI done. It turned out I had a torn Cartila... just so u know, lcl is cartilage. there is a bunch of cartilage in ur knee. if it is a tear in the cartilage, im sorry to say u will need surgery. i did. i suggest you go to an orthopedist, since i... i advised you to go to an orthopedic doctor cause all cases are not the same!!!!!!!!! ... |
