Knee injury....?

i know i post alot about this but im just beginning to get frustrated....
i was wondering if it was possible for two MRIs to miss significant damage to ligaments or meniscus?
I have had 2 MRIs on my left knee(the last one was in September) and both have showen the same thing the damage origanially substained in June to my MCL... i have since however been cleared(after the second MRI) to do competitive cheerleading without tumbling... jump drills cause my knee to swell and moderate pain, and stunting also causes some minor pain to the inside and front of my knee...
I was told by the ortho that it was very unlikely for 2 MRIs to miss a tear, and that i shouldnt still be feeling pain over the ligament after nearly 8 months...
another question that i have is if the muscles in the leg(quads and hamstrings) are built up and very strong(from months of PT) could this possibly be masking an injury when the doc does the exam?
I am going back on the 19th of march and hopefuly having surgery

these are me current symptoms
*swelling and moderate pain (especially after activity and prolonged standing)
* moderate to severe pain with squating, twisting, and cutting
*pain deep in the joint with extreme ROM
*poping medially while doing squats

Sounds to me Meniscus as well as MCL. I know, It (MCL) shouldnt be causing you that much trouble after 8 months. MRIs are less accurate in meniscus tears. They are usually good with ligaments. But who knows. You mentioned about your legs being strong and muscles are bult up, yes that can 'mask' the injury alottt!!! because the muscles guard your knee because of the dr pulling on it or twisting it. Mine didn't succeed when my knee dr pulled on my knees. he knew just how to make my leg muslces relax while he was pulling and twisting my knee. I would maybe go to 2nd opinion. I know what you mean about the MCL. Its just over 2 months for me, and its still not totally healed or whatever. it was torn completely either, but I also continued to dance ( carefully) and do everything else, because I like to dance and stay fit all the time. I just hope all goes well for you. Is your ACL torn or not?

You mentioned that you have pain on the inside and front of the knee. Have they considered Patellofemoral pain syndrome or Plica syndrome?
