Knee injury?

I am not sure what this is....but when i am walking up the stairs my left knee begins to hurt, it is not a type of pain that stops me I can make it, although it is uncomfortable.
Sometimes when I am running it will also feel the same way and sometimes go down on me...
Does anyone know what this is, do I need to see a doctor?

I don't like do sports so it isn't a sports injury etc

My knee was doing the same thing yours. My started to get worse, it got to the point, I had to pull myself up the stairs. I was in so much pain. I had a MRI done. It turned out I had a torn Cartilage. Go get your knee checked out, don't wait like I did. Make an appointment with Orthopedic Dr.

You probably have a lack of cartilage between your knee joint, or perhaps it's the alignment of your knee to your foot. I have the same problem. Try asking your doctor about it next time you're there at a physical or something.
