Help! Gymnastics knee injury?

Yesterday I landed a front tuck with my knees locked, I was rotating to slow and I wanted to stick it, so I think I sort of thrust them back unintentionally locking them. My left knee really hurts today and when I move my knee cap back and forth it feels like something is grinding a little though not badly. I have Iced it but do you think wrapping it would help. If so how? Also what is this injury called, I'd like to look it up online. Someone told me it was called Hyper-extending my knees but I'm not sure.

ugh idk but i agree with that Austin A guy cause you use that all of the time yuppers :)

ouch

You might need to have it looked at by a doctor. You do not want to make it worse.

I don't know. But Ibuprophen(however you spell it) will help with the pain.

if the swelling doesn't go down you may need to go get an mri. i would not wrap it because that is going to put more pressure on it. something similar happened to me a couple of weeks ago when i fell and i found out that i tore my acl. now i have to have it operated on. go to webmd.com or ehealth.com for more info.

i agree that if it is swollen and u are having problems with weight bearing that u should see a doctor and request to have an MRI done... in the mean time keep it elevated and it wouldnt hurt to wrap ur knee with an ACE wrap this will give u some support as well as help with the swelling...

one thing that u can do is go to webmd.com they have a symptom checker also this website can give u advice on how to treat ur injury and how soon u should see a doctor

http://www.msha.com/body.cfm?id=26

just go to this site and click on the online symptom advisor... fill out the requested info(its free) and then wait for the results

best of luck with ur knee.. hope its not too serious

rest, ice, compression, elevation RICE

advil or aleve for the pain

a sport wrap or a compression brace could help

ease off the training

see an orthopedic dr. that specializes in sports injuries
