Will a knee injury cause back pain????

woundering if a knee injury will cause back pain? after surgery.are before surgery for torn meniscus.....

if you arnt walking with a straight back, or standing with a straight back then it could cause back pain.

i had a knee injury and it did hurt my back.

no because the knee is at on your leg, not at your back.

more than likely... If you have a knee injury, you will walk off balance... putting udue stress and strain on parts of your back...

Also, you will have to compensate the weker knee with alternate muscles, and some of these will be in the back... These muscles are hardly ever used unless your a rock climber, so they will hurt just like any muscle that's being exercised more than usual...

limping or favoring one side is very hard on your back and muscle pain can result

Back pain can be a side effect, yes. If you are sitting a lot or using crutches because of the injury. If you are using crutches, have a medical professional (physical therapist, nurse, doctor) check to make sure they are adjusted properly. You shouldn't be slouched over. If you are sitting a lot, check your posture. Favoring your leg with the injured knee while walking can also put a strain on your back. You should speak to your doctor about this to figure out what is causing the pain and how best to correct the problem so it won't slow your recovery. Good Luck!

Think of it this way...before your injury your allright and walking fine your body is in allignement and im sure after a long day your feet might hurt or something but typically your back is fine...but then when you hurt your knee you walk differently because you have to compensate for the knee injury and since you are now walking differently your back can begin to hurt from the strain it endures as your overcompansating.

It wouldn't be the surgery itself, but how you walk afterwards. You will naturally favor that leg, putting less weight on it, and it can put your back muscles out of symmetry, and lead to back pain.

This is very typical. As a result of the injury, you are favoring the injured leg. This throws your hips and back out of their natural alignment and causes back pain. I've had 4 surgeries for torn meniscus. I know it hurts physically, but do your best to walk normally. You won't do any damage to the injury by doing so. Keep up the PT doing exercises to strengthen your quads and hamstrings. This will all help and the back pain should go away.
Good luck.
