Diagnose my soccer knee injury!!? |
I played a soccer game tonight, and near the end I my knee slammed pretty hard into the boards. There was no popping or anything, and not really alot of pain untill I got off the field. However now my knee seems to be swelling up, with pain mostly above my kneecap, and closer to the inside. It feels like more of a "superficial" injury, but it still hurts to straighten or put pressure on my leg. This isn't what i would think a ligament injury would feel like, maybe I am wrong?, or maybe it is something else?? see a doctor, get an xray or preferably an MRI. stay off it, ice, elevate and try to keep it straight. you may have sprained or torn your MCL or meniscus. if you sprained a ligament, ice and rest are the only treatment and you will be fine in a few weeks. good luck in your recovery, hopefully you just have a contusion .... rest, ice and elevate the knee above heart level to help with the swelling (laying flat, not sitting in a chair) ... take Aleve or Ibuprofen and use crutches if necessary. If you don't have any improvement in your pain and discomfort, see an orthopedist. |
