For an old knee injury: hot or cold pads? |
After four months of a soft tissue injury on my knee, I still have pain after walking but I don't notice any swelling. Should I apply hot or cold pads? my knees are bad from dance, and I take shark cartilage tablets. they work miracles, and i just use a knee brace, not hot or cold pads. but the muscle rub that gets warm and cold over time, it smells really minty, it works very, very well. Well, all my relatives who are nurses say "whichever feels best". Apparently there isn't any way to know for sure with an old injury, it's just up to you to decide how you like it. Vitamin C is ideal for tissue repair. hot is the best to use for muscles and healing. Cold is used to STOP swelling and temporary pain relief hot pads should make the muscles loose and make the stiffness go away. but if you're doing intense workouts, then icing it will keep the muscles tight so you're less likely to hurt it again. I think that's what the trainer taught me about sprained ankles =P |
