Can someone diagnose what type of knee injury I have?

I am a healthy teen and I was playing basketball last night, just shooting hoops when, after taking a shot, my knee hurt when I bent it. I tried to look for the type of injury that I had on the internet, but none of the symptoms fully match mine. Any ideas from doctors?
My symptoms are:
-minor swelling
-able to walk/run
-pain when squatting on knees at 90 degrees
-full motion but something feels wrong in the knee

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest amount of pain, when I squat at 90 degrees the pain is about a 7. I have full range of motion at rest.

What is an ACL strain? not as bad as a tear right and I don't need surgery?

likely a strain of the anterior cruciate ligament

Depends on where the pain is. Sounds a lot like a ligament tear to be honest with you. Hopefully it is just a minor sprain or deep bruising.

Need to be more specific about type of pain and range of motion at rest.

wow the same thing happened to me a month ago i went to a knee doctor and they said to go to phchical therapy to rebuild my knee and so my leg wont go out on me again.it is definetly ur MCL.there are ways to fix this one way is to strecth every night and do some exercises and ice it for 20 minutes this will help u alot

You could have either injured a meniscus, which is the cartilage pad in between your bones, or a ligament, which stabilizes your knee.

Most patients with a meniscal tear report an acute onset of sharp pain following a twisting injury with their knee flexed and foot firmly planted on the ground. The symptoms reported by patients may include swelling and 鈥渃atching鈥?(pain with squatting). The onset of swelling is generally delayed a couple of days in isolated meniscal injuries, which differs from the immediate swelling seen with acute ACL injury. Does your knee lock or do you feel like something is flapping back & forth in your knee? These are additional signs that could point to a tear of your meniscus. When you squat, can you localize the pain to the inside or the outside of your knee? You have two menisci, one on each side of the knee.

ACL tears commonly occur during athletic activities. Patients may recall a 鈥減opping鈥?or 鈥渢earing鈥?sensation at the time of injury. Patients will have difficulty bearing weight after an ACL injury, and many experience the sensation of instability or have frank episodes of the knee's 鈥済iving out.鈥?br>
Given your symptoms, it sounds most likely that you have torn a meniscus in your knee. Your doctor should be able to do some maneuvers to confirm the diagnosis.
