How do you cure PTSD? |
PTSD = Post Tramatic Stress Disorder. Long story short At the age of 12 (23 now) I cut my knee open causing 30 stitches. For a few years after I had a fear of people touchin my knee and would cry if anybody tried. If I saw blood or wounds on tv or anything I still have to cover my knee with my hand or arm or whatever. I then get anxious and if it lasts long enough It will bring me to tears worrying that something may cause my knee to cut open again. I saw a psychologist in highschool but the ladies methods did not work for me. I have gotten much better with ppl touchin my knee but usualy can only be someone I know really well. Any ideas as to how to fix this obsessive fear? It doesnt come along that often anymore but when It does hit me it can be stressfull. I also have a similiar fear of having my throat/wrists slit. Though I have never had any trauma due to either of those which confuses me to heck. i suggest finding a counselor that is familiar with that problem. another person might be able to help where the other one couldnt. you are now older and there are other ways of handling ptsd. it might not go away entirely but it can be controlled. I also have it! The doctors told me that I have to always be i a safe situation and safe place! It will help me. There is also a pill called Geodon it is wonderful! Another called Seraquel! That one helps you sleep. Try to change your life! Change everything in it. Move to another town. another house, get new friends. Change it all try to start fresh! I tried to do that but I kept missing my husband. So I dont know your situation! Just try to make yourself safe and happy. Do you have any close friends that make you safe. I have one! One that makes you happy when you are sad? PTSD is not curable. you CAN manage it with help of a specialized counselor and your willingness to be teachable on what they offer as suggestions. you can live a full life with it and perhaps one day you can helps others who have it too !! ( in many cases medications are not needed ) good luck. you'll be ok . |
