I am 37 years old have hypothyroidism and cannot gain weight??why??

i have been told that my thyroid has failed. i am on levothyroxine. i cannot seem to gain weight no matter what i do. it seems like everyone has the opposite problem with this disorder.. i also have ocd and have been staying up for days, cleaning and organizing...also for the past few months my joints (especially my knees) are hurting more and more especially in the morning for about an hour. i really feel as if there is something else wrong is there anything that goes along with hypothyroidism that could have any of these symptoms???thank you for helping i am sooo confused.and hurting.

You need to see your doctor.

You say that you have been "...staying up for days...cleaning and organizing...". I am not an expert, but it sounds as though you are experiencing a "manic" episode. This doesn't mean you're crazy or that you did anything wrong, it just means that your body chemistry is out of whack and your doctor needs to take a look at your medicines.

The levothyroxine may need to be adjusted, just as any medicines you are currently taking for the OCD may need adjustment.

u are not gaining wait because u have already started the treatment with levothyroxine!!!

My mom has the same problem , I am so worried about her, everyone else have the opposite problem, hypo people usually gains weight but my mom never ganis weight, i was hoping if you got any results ??
