Please Help Me!? |
Im 13 years old, i am going to be 14 in less than 2 monthes. I have a huge problem. i have a really bad anxiety disorder. i am currently talking to my guidence concelour at school, im seeing a therapist, and my psychiatrist is hopefully going to put me on medicine. You have to talk to the three people you are seeing, your mental health counselor, your Psychiatrist and your guidance counselor about WHY you cannot go to class. They may be able to get you a medical leave for the rest of the year. This worked for my nephew. Yoga and or meditation. You have to teach yourself to be calm. Sounds like you get panic attacks. I use to get them, still get anxious but not full panic attacks. Its hard to explain how to get out of an anxiety cycle. I find it is important to try to think logical, and not get worked up about things. Pinpoint what makes you anxious, and question why it does. I find most things I get worked up about I over analyse or take too seriously. A good diet and excercise is essential. Well, you're doing what you need to do: talking to counselors. What I would recommend would be to sit down and do some self-analysis. Find out exactly -why- you're freaking out. What is it you're afraid of? Once you figure out what you're freaking out over, you will feel better because you'll have more control over the situation (if you know what the problem is, you can take steps to eliminate it). And, of course, use the time-honored technique: Breathe... chiiiiiiiill... breathe... chiiiiiiiiiill You should be getting help from the psychiatrist in learning how to react to situations- sort of like role playing and should be able to pin point what is making you have anxiety attacks. I find it sad that you will need to take medication at such a young age. But sometimes we do what we have to do. just make sure that you will not abuse the medication. For now home schooling may not be a bad idea and then later you could slowly integrate back into your old life. I wish you luck and keep your chin up Something must have happened on Spring Break to make you this way, you don't just wake up one morning after all this time and decide to be this way. The best answer is for you to very open with whom you are most comfortable with your Mom, Counselor or even your Doctor and talk to them let them know what's going on. At one time I was in your position but I was 17 and I had been attacked. DO NOT STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING!! THIS WILL LEAD TO PHOBIAS!!! This is definitely anxiety disorder. Try to talk to yourself and tell yourself nothing will happen. This is as bad as it gets. This is the worst there is... All of these feelings are normal body sensations but they are just multiplied. Adrenalin (the chemical in your body that's responsible for all this) is absorbed by your body within a few minutes. If you don't fight these feelings.. they will go away. If you fight the feelings, they will go away but they will just last longer. Then you wear yourself out and get really tired. Anyway, the outcome is the same. You're not going to die or make a fool of yourself. I've had anxiety attacks for 15 years and I've never fainted or made a fool of myself. Most of the time, no one even notices. Just hang in there and whatever you do, do not run from the problem. Good Luck! See anxiety at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on page 6. |
