Kidney stones???? |
was curious for other people that have had kidney stones, how long did it take for you to pass them, and how long were you out of commission for, i have two young children and i can't afford to be on these pain meds for too long, they make me really loopy, but without them i feel like i am gonna die. So i was just wondering how long it normally takes to pass a stone. thanks for your answers, and for those of you who have had this i feel sorry for you i wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy, this pain is worse than my labor was!! Stone passing varies depending on the person and size of the stone. Your best bet is to drink a lot (and I mean A LOT) of fluids to help push it out. I also spoke to my doctor who said part of why it hurts is not so much the stone in the tube itself, but a) fluid back up and b) the muscles getting tired trying to push it out. She said it helps to try to relax those muscles some with heat. It could take a couple of days, could take a week...ask your doctor for a time line on how long you HAVE to wait before they do surgery or consider other options...it hurts a lot and it shouldn't be something you just have to bear with while it passes for weeks. I would think there are meds that help dissolve them. |
