Kidney stones or renal calculi?

I want to know is laser technique used for breaking kidney stones safe?
Any other treatment for kidney stones?
Do kidney stones lead to total renal failure or renal failure is due to other reasons as well?
please help.

the laser treatment is very safe, but like any other procedure it has risks which your doctor can explain to you...only other treatment for stones would be soundwave that break them up and just letting them pass naturally which is painful until they pass...stones themsleves dont lead to failure..that is something totally different and can be too complicated to explain here

Most of kidneys stones formation relate to the foods we eat. Furthermore there are many types of kidney stones! You you have stones, avoid "chocolat". Check google for a list of foods you should avoid if you have kidney stones (calculi). Need to drink a lot of water. Renal failure is totally different and is link to hypertension, glomerulonephritis, etc..

i would say it as safe as most surgical proceedures, if not more so. In very rare circumsatnaces renal stones - or calculli - can course renal failiure. Most cases ( of renal failiuire) are due to other reasons Prevention is better than cure so drink lots!!!

Lithotripsy is perfectly safe for kidney stone removal, however, sometimes the stones are too large or situated in a place that makes them impossible to remove expect with surgery. Certain implantable medical devices make surgery the only option, too. Treatment for kidney stones involves either lithotripsy, surgery, the "wait, see, & pee" technique, increasing liquid intake (i.e., water), limiting alcohol and caffeinated products, and watching mineral and calcium intake. It depends on what the stone(s) consist of as to what steps to take. Kidney stones can lead to renal failure, but rarely do. Renal failure can be caused by chronic infections, diabetes, untreated/longstanding/malig-
nant hypertension,congenital/heredi-tary kidney disorders, peripheral vascular disease, disorders such as Lupus, and a myriad of other things. A urologist can outline the best plan to treat stones and prevent kidney damage.
